Feedback for Print Work and Overall Package
The feedback I received for my print work varied. Becky had said that it looked professional and worked well as a whole package. The images and the colours reflected the feel of the music video - therefore, there is continuity within the promotional package. However, she did say that she didn't like the orange flash of light on the original print advert as it didn't fit in with the overall colour scheme. I agreed with her, therefore I changed it to a cooler colour of blue and purple.
Print Work Feedback
The overall feedback for my print advert was positive; however, a few people said that it lacked continuity as it didn't fit in with the blue colour scheme of my digipaks. Therefore, I will change the colours in order to create a consistent house style.

Time Management
I have just about finished my print work and have had feedback. All I need to do now is start my evaluation questions. I still need to get feedback on my final cut of my music video, which I should have done by the end of the week. This will help me when it comes to answer question 3.

Last Minute re filming
After looking at our music video, we decided to re film the indoor performance footage as the quality was quite low and appeared grainy. We have therefore chosen to just use outdoor footage as the lighting is high key and it creates more continuity.
The daffodils blowing in the wind symbolises new life, spring and happiness. This will be featured at the end where the Father and Daughter are reunited.
We needed more close ups of the artist performing for the final 3rd of our video. We filmed a variety of different angles and made sure that the lip synching was better.
We filmed some with his guitar in the frame, and others with just his face.

Screenshots of Print Advert
I have started by placing the image onto photoshop. I chose this image as the low level angle gives the artist more authority and power. His facial expression connotes a sadness which fits in with the narrative of our video.
I then used the text tool to place the artist's name onto the print advert. I downloaded the font 'impact label' from Da Font. I will use Edmundsbury style font to type "Comfort You' above Erick Baker. I will also use the filter tool to brighten the image and alter the colour in order to create continuity within my print work. This will also enable the font to be seen more clearly as currently it is merging into the background.
I will add a flash of light behind the text to emphasise it on the advert and to connote a sense of warmth as well as making the advert look more creativity.
This image shows the filters that I will put onto photoshop.

Screenshots: Creating the Digipak
To create my digipak, I used Photoshop on the apple mac computers. Our digipaks had to have a minimum of four panes, which is what I have chosen to do:
Time Management Update
Our group have re-filmed our music video and have almost finished the final cut. We have a lot more performance footage, which is what we lacked in last time. The footage is now of a higher quality and contains close ups of the actor singing. I have now completed my digipaks - but due to complications with the internet and temporarily losing our work, I have yet to have started the print advert. During the next lesson I will have started and hopefully completed my print advert.

Images for Digipak/Print Advert
These photos were taken on our last day of filming. I made sure to take a variety of images for the performer as the image is the most important aspect of the music video.

This image is clearer and the artist is also the focal point of the image. I may use this image in my print advert.

This image wasn't very successful as the bag is shown on the left hand side and the artist is smiling which isn't what I wanted from the shot. I would like the artist to look slightly sad so that it illustrates the mood of the music video and the song. The colours, along with the lighting in this image look fairly dull.

I would like to use this image in my digipaks as it's clear, high quality and shows the artist with his guitar. It's a medium shot which would be suitable for one of the panes on my digipaks. The lighting is also better in this shot as are the colours - they show more of a contrast; therefore, creating a bolder and stronger image.

The lighting in this image is too high key on his face, the audience wouldn't be able to see him clearly - which wouldn't be successful in boosting the artist's brand identity.

I like this image as the colours are bold and the light reflection is effective. I may use this on one of the panes - preferably the last one which is where I could put the tracking listing on.
I don't think I'll use this image for my print work as the quality isn't very good. I do, however like the way you can see the guitar on his back and that he is in a naturalistic environment. This supports the genre and the brand identity of the artist.

Images for Digipak/Print Advert

This image will be the front cover to my digipak. I have chosen this one because the colours in the image are strong and bold. The facial expression and the body positioning of the actor denotes a sadness which is what I originally wanted to achieve. Buy having the guitar as a prop it also illustrates the genre of the music.

I don't think I'll use this image as it is slightly blurred.

Although I like the positioning of the actor in this image, the facial expression does tie in with that I wanted to achieve; therefore, I don't think I'll use this image either.

Mock Up of Print Advert
The font at the top of the print advert will have a central lining and will be larger than the font at the bottom of the page. This is due to the artist's name and album being the most important source of information and the most important in elevating his brand identity. The font will be bold to ensure that it will stand out against the background and it will be in black. The artist name and album will have a different font style to the other text on the page.
I have chosen Island Records to be the record label for my artist as they aren't one of the hugely recognised labels, such as: Sony or Universal; however, they have signed artist's including: Gotye. The logo will be smaller than what I have drawn but will be placed beneath the album name and artist name.
The background image will fill the whole page; however, it will be blurred behind the artist to ensure that he is the focal point, it will also be blurred out towards the bottom of the page in order to let the audience read the information clearly. The colours on the page will be of the woodland - this will consist of browns, greens and oranges which are all earthy and naturalistic colours. This is to symbolise the genre of music and the main single 'Comfort You'.
The information at the bottom of the page will include ratings from genre specific magazines, a website, the information for the release date and an 'Available to download now' on iTunes.

Time Management
So far I am up to date with my research and planning for my digipak and print advert. I have completed a font and colour style sheet and have also completed a mock up of my digipak. By next lesson I will need to have completed a mock up for the print advert and I will need to start taking more photos to use on my final digipak.
Mock Up of Digipak
The front cover for my digipak will feature a medium close up of the artist. This will ensure that the audience will be able to establish his brand identity. The performer will also have a non-descript facial expression; this will connote a seriousness, as well as resembling the main single. The title of the album will be placed top-centre, with a larger font - this is so that the audience can immediately see the name of the album above others if it it placed on a shelf. The name of the artist will be placed underneath, just above his image. The only other writing on the front will be 'Available to download on iTunes now.' The background colour will be black which connotes power and will also help the text to stand out. A colour scheme will be emerging from behind the artist in order to emphasise his brand identity.
The CD part of the digipak will have a dark background with blurred fairy-lights. I have chosen to use the fairy-lights as they feature in our video and connote a warmth and intimacy. The CD will have branches featured on it to symbolise a natural element which is a common feature within our chosen genre.
A large image of the performer walking through woodland will appear on the top left page - the sun will be shown glaring through the trees and slightly onto the performer. Again the sun connotes warmth - which is how I want the audience to relate my artist and the digipak. By using a woodland image, it will illustrate what we have filmed in our music video. It will also create a continuity within my digipak, as branches are featured on the CD.
There will be 10 tracks listed on the back of the digipak, they will be central and have a larger text than the other imformation. This is because the track listing is of a higher importance and interest than the other components; such as: barcode, website, price and record label. The same colours that will be featured on the front of the digipak will also merge in from each of the four corners on the back.
